One of the Active8 team has been working with us for two years and stated recently that “personal training in Bristol has become a hugely popular service.”
Having played sports and worked as a lifeguard in South Africa, Devilliers moved to the UK in 2008 and began taking part in triathlons. This passion led to him representing Great Britain and becoming the English National Champion.
Devilliers Van den Brink joined the Active8 personal trainers at our Henleaze fitness studio in August 2020 and has become a core member of the team.
We caught up with him this week to see how things are shaping up.
How did you get interested in the field of personal training?
“I love sport and always wanted to work in a physical job. Being a PT is very personal, and it’s really rewarding to work with clients and help them with fitness, rehab and general activeness.”
Why did you join Active8 as a personal trainer?
“I was working as a PT for a national chain of gyms in Bristol and had heard of Shane. I was looking to work for a community-based fitness studio and Active8 fitted the bill perfectly. I joined the team in August 2020.”
What sort of clients do you work with?
“I have a couple of triathlon clients, an ex-Olympian, an ex-Professional cricket player, young professionals and older retired clients. It’s a real mix, including a few knee rehab clients.”
What do you like about working as a personal trainer?
“No two days are the same when it comes to providing personal fitness to clients. Triathlon is a major part of my life and it’s great to help other athletes.”
How do you help clients?
“I adapt client requirements against tailored programmes, all interacting with MyZone technology to measure their progress. I utilise smart training and sensible nutrition strategies to help clients to be energised, healthier, pain-free and ill less often as a result.”
What personal training services do you provide at Active8?
“I deliver one-to-one personal training as we as group sessions. My specialisations include Spin, HiiT, strength and conditioning training, bodyweight training, kettlebell sessions and TRX.”
What do you like about working at Active8?
“It’s a really close-knit team at Active8, and a great bunch to work with. The clients are fantastic. Personal training in Bristol has become a hugely popular service.”
